This is actually a 3 hours trekking programme between 7 pm and 4 am, accompanied by a forest guide.
Border Hiking:
Border hiking in Thekkady is a full-day conservation-oriented hard trek along the boundary of the Tiger Reserve. The trek starts at eight in the morning and goes on until the evening. During your trek through various kinds of terrain, you can enjoy the rich flora and fauna of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. You can get a close look at wildlife like the gaur, the sloth bear, the elephant and various other wild animals. Apart from this, you will also be able to watch a variety of birds and butterflies.
Bamboo Rafting:
Bamboo Rafting in Thekkady is another interesting activity. It is a dawn to dusk range hiking and rafting programme through some of the richest forest tracts of Periyar Tiger Reserve. One can come across the exotic species like Gaur, Elephants, Sloth Bear and many more. These treks would take you to altitudes varying from 8000 meters to 1500 meters. The hike would begin at 8 am in the morning.
Boating:
The first and foremost activity of a tourist in Thekkady is boating in the Lake. One can see the wild animals along the fringe of the lake foraging, bathing, drinking and resting. It would be a greater fun if one is lucky enough to see the elephants playing with their babies in the lake. Daily 5 Trips and each trip of Two Hours. Timings: 7 am, 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 2 pm & 4 pm.
Nature Walk:
Nature walking through the diverse habitats is next on our list of things to do in Thekkady. The daily guided nature treks are 4 km – 5 km and offer excellent opportunities to explore the flora and fauna – birds, butterflies, animal species, and more. A maximum of 5 persons and an additional tribal guide can be a part of one group. Timings: 7:00 am – 10:00 am, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm.
Organic Village Visit:
Organic Village Visit in Thekkady, Idukki is a program crafted by the villagers living in the periphery of the Periyar reserve which shall take guests to the organic farms of the Forest Fringe Farmers Eco-development Committees. You will also be able to watch the tribal art performance of the villagers in Thekkady. It will be a different experience for you.
