Beauty of Thekkady: Ottakathalamedu

Ottakathalamedu

Thekkady resorts

Ottakathalamedu has started becoming popular among tourists very recently. Located at a distance of 4 km from Thekaddy, it is a beautiful bike ride from Thekaddy to here. Situated at an altitude of 1300 m above sea level, it offers a breathtaking view of Kumily, Periyar Tiger Reserve, spice gardens and some villages of Tamil Nadu. Be careful while standing at edges because winds can be very strong sometimes. If you love to do some landscape photography, don’t forget to pack your wide angle lens. It’s a perfect place to chill out with your group while watching the sunset. There are no cafes/restaurants around and hence if you plan to hang out there for a while, carry your snacks. Since it is a newly discovered tourist spot, it is not maintained very well, and you should bring your food and plastic waste back with you.

Ottakathalamedu has situated about 4 km from Thekkady at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, which provides an excellent view that includes Kumily town, the Periyar National Park and even the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu State.
